In a recent interview Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said since 2001 to 2011 there was a massive growth of Muslim population in Assam. He said, this is not a natural population growth of the Muslim community but this is a growth we can see is because of illegal immigrants from neighboring country Bangladesh which was a part of India earlier before Independence and partition.

Assam Chief Minister is known for his provocative statements and aggressive nature towards one particular community. We got to see his aggressive face in the recent Bihar election when he was campaigning for his party, he was seen giving speeches targeting only Muslim community. As per law this is against the Constitution and if any politician does like this he is punishable under law, because law is equal for all, no matter he is Chief Minister or Prime Minister.
Few days back in a press conference he made a statement which shocked the entire India and unbiased media persons when he said, “As long as I am alive, my fight against Miya Muslim will continue” (Miya is a term used for Bengali-speaking Muslims in Assam). He said this because eviction in Assam is going on for illegal encroachers occupying reserve forest land, and the eviction is performed in an area with Muslim population majority. He is offering land to all religions, patta to all people except the Muslim people.
In the year 2020 during COVID Himanta Biswa Sarma gave a very hateful statement targeting Muslim people. Himanta said “Just like corona Islam should also be finished.”
Intentionally or unintentionally he always gives statements against Muslims and Islam, hurting Muslim people's sentiment. Recently he was seen telling the media that he does not require the vote of Muslim people, in fact BJP doesn’t need Muslim votes. He said the same thing in the year 2021. There are only few Muslim people like him but majority dislike him for his provocative religious speeches and statements.
It has also been observed by people that he sometimes says Muslims must educate themselves because their count in Assam literacy rate is much lower, but when Muslim boys and girls start achieving something by working really-really hard he then comes to press and makes statements like Muslim people will take over everything, every opportunity in Assam. He is someone who cannot stand on his own words. He always tries to say something which hurts Muslims.
A month ago in media he was telling something which is really funny to hear. Himanta said “Is there anyone who is more powerful than me in India currently? I can call Modi, I can call Amit Shah and anyone.” People on social media made fun of him after his video went viral, influencers made memes of his statement and uploaded on social media. People call him crazy.
Himanta never thinks twice before making any statement because he believes he comes from a political party who can bear his nonsense speech and statements also.
